Historic Burlington County Prison Museum The Prison - Mt. Holly, NJ

Escapes, riots, murders, and public executions are the stories behind the 165-year history of the Historic Burlington County Prison. The exhibit challenge was to create a self-guided walking tour within a historic structure designed for containment rather than visitor traffic flow. Visitors experience the sights and sounds of prison life through prisoner vignettes. Imagine awaiting your fate in the "dungeon " - the maximum-security cell. Other areas on the tour include interpretive recreation of the gallows, prisoner graffiti, the prison workshop, prison kitchen and the "yard ".
